I'm sorry if this has been brought up already. If it has, than burn this. But it has absolutely been driving me bat-poo insane when I read that we've "resigned Martens" but really mean "re-sign". To put this to an end... here we go...
RESIGN: verb.
1. To give up or hand over (something to someone); to relinquish ownership of.
2. To quit (a job or position).
ex. I am resigning in protest of the unfair treatment of our employees.
ex. He resigned the crown to follow his heart.
RE-SIGN: verb.
1. To sign again; to provided one's signature again.
* Spelling without the hyphen risks confusion with resign ("give up").
I'm blonde... you confuse me and other blondes when you say crap like "Matt Robinson resigns"
...and I cry for no reason...
